About Dérive Wellness

I have worked in emergency medicine for over 19 years & I am leaving that career to heal people through Eastern medicine. Nine years ago, both my Balinese palm reader near Ubud and my medium in Canada made it very clear that Western medicine was not what I was meant to be doing. I was meant to be a healer, but I was destined for more. I knew that deep down, but having two people tell me this on opposite sides of the planet just gave me that push I needed.

I didn't know what healing modalities I wanted to do after I returned from Bali. I had fallen in love with energy medicine because I am a science nerd, and there is so much science behind it, including NASA science! My initial step into energy healing was to learn Reiki (which they do in hospitals like UCLA & Dignity Health because it is evidence-based). I then obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in Holistic Health, triggering my thirst to learn more.

Over 5 years after moving to Los Angeles and attending classes at Unplug, I was finally able to take my meditation teacher training through them in 2021. Again, the benefits of meditation have been proven by science & MRIs of the human brain. They even teach meditation in a program called Urban Zen at UCLA. 

I am always studying and learning!! I have multiple degrees now, but I am constantly learning more! I learned EFT with Emotional Freedom Academy and sound healing with Sound Healing International. I'm currently getting certified to guide yoga nidra with Lily, my teacher at Blooming Lotus in Ubud, Bali! I took a course in Shamanic healing practices in Peru. We truly have so much to learn from these ancient cultures! Who knows what is next?!

SOUND BATH

A 1:1 sound bath is great for relaxation and stress relief. Upon entering the space, you are greeted by soft lighting and a tranquil atmosphere that facilitates mental and emotional relaxation. Laying on a comfortable mat with a lavender eye pillow and weighted blanket for comfort, you are immersed in the soothing sounds produced by various healing instruments. The session typically starts with a Tibetan singing bowl, which emits rich tones that resonate throughout your body. This is often followed by the introduction of crystal bowls, which generate uplifting vibrations, while gentle chimes or a gong provide a surrounding auditory experience. As the session concludes and the sounds begin to dissipate, you will be reoriented to your surroundings, emerging with a renewed sense of clarity and mental rejuvenation. This experience serves as an optimal opportunity for relaxation and rejuvenation.

REIKI

When you arrive for a 1:1 Reiki session, you step into a peaceful and inviting space filled with soft music and the calming scent of essential oils. We will take a moment to talk about what you hope to achieve during the session, whether it’s alleviating physical tension or addressing emotional stress. Once you are settled, I will explain what to expect. The session involves the gentle flow of healing energy. I carefully position my hands, either hovering just above the body or lightly touching, directing energy to areas where it is most needed. Throughout the session, I will check in with you to ensure you feel comfortable. As the session comes to an end, I gently bring you back to awareness, sharing any insights from the session and inviting you to express how you feel.

MEDITATION

Upon entering the room, you are greeted by the soothing aroma of essential oils. You will take a moment to find a comfortable position, either seated or reclining. The session begins with a brief discussion, allowing you to set your intentions for the meditation. You will then be asked to close your eyes and engage in deep breathing, which facilitates the release of any physical tension in the body. I will guide you through a body scan, directing attention from the fingers to the toes to the face to ensure complete relaxation before you begin to meditate, guided by me. Each session is different depending on the needs expressed by you, the client. As the session concludes, you will be guided back to the present moment through deep breaths and awareness of your surroundings before opening your eyes.
